Mohammad Doostmohammadi

Mohammad Doostmohammadi is the founder and CEO of pH7 Technologies, leading the company’s strategic vision and business and technical activities.

As a serial entrepreneur with a passion for sustainability, Mohammad has been committed to exploring new technologies that make existing processes and systems more environmentally-friendly, as well as economically viable for wide-scale industry applications. He advocates the value of working collectively to make an impact, advancing solutions that can bring about positive outcomes today, and for future generations.

Mohammad brings with him a deep background in science and complex chemical processes, having spent over 15 years working on mineral extraction, mineral processing, metal extraction, and wastewater management. Prior to pH7 Technologies, he had managed the development of five different processing plants globally, overseeing the projects from ideation and R&D, all the way through to commercialization and launch.

Mohammad holds strong industry relationships built on shared values and goals, envisioning a future where the environmental footprint can be eliminated through the adoption of innovative chemical processes. At pH7 Technologies, this mission is realized in the company’s production of green metals that have the lowest carbon footprint.

Dan Parmar

Dan is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has a passion for working with both finance professionals and operating teams to scale businesses. He brings more than 20 years of experience as a senior finance executive in the technology industry, helping early-stage ventures grow from start up to commercialization. Dan’s previous experience includes raising capital from a variety of venture funds and strategic partners, assisting in building sustainable commercial partnerships, and successfully executing on liquidity events via an initial public offering and M&A with two premiere BC based clean technology companies. Dan is also active in the business community and holds a board membership on a local credit union.

Chris Adlparvar

Chris is the Chief Commercial Officer at pH7 Technologies, overseeing technological developments that will advance the company's pursuit of creating a more habitable and sustainable planet. He leads pH7's commercial strategy and drives initiatives to boost revenue growth.

Chris brings over 15 years of experience in team management, business development, sales funnel strategies, and product management, as well as developing and executing go-to-market strategies. He is a veteran entrepreneur, having previously led the building and scaling of six start-ups in Canada and the USA, including Copypants, a B2B SaaS start-up he founded and led as CEO, later acquired by Xperi Corporation. Chris also has expertise in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI/ML) infrastructure development for cloud applications and low-power edge devices.

Chris graduated from several accelerator programs, including Creative Destruction Labs, Spring Activator, and Launch Academy. He is currently an Executive MBA candidate with Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management and Smith School of Business at Queen's University.

Chris Salisbury

Chris is a highly experienced mining executive, with over 30 years of global experience across senior strategic and operational roles for the Rio Tinto Group, including a number of years as member of the Executive Committee. During his long career, he has worked across a diverse range of commodities including bauxite, alumina, aluminium, coal, uranium, salt, copper, and iron ore. He has held a number of senior roles including Chief Executive - Iron Ore and acting Chief Executive - Copper and Coal. He has decades of experience in working with international stakeholders across the globe. Chris is recognised as a transformational business leader delivering significant improvements across safety, productivity, technology and culture. Rio Tinto Iron Ore is globally recognised as a leader in automation, robotics and big data analytics. He has first-hand knowledge of the business environment across Australia and other regions, and extensive experience in brownfield and greenfield capital development. Chris has significant board experience in the resources industry including technology and startup companies. He serves on the board of a number of ASX listed and unlisted entities, and is currently non executive Chair of Deep Yellow Limited (Uranium). A qualified metallurgical engineer, he is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Colin Harris

Colin is considered one of the most successful technology entrepreneurs in Vancouver. He was previously Co-founder and COO of Microsemi Corporation (formerly known as PMC-Sierra), a NASDAQ-listed semiconductor solutions provider. He also served on the board of Redlen Technologies, the company that revolutionized computed tomography (CT) scanning.

A strong supporter of British Columbia’s entrepreneurial community, both as an angel investor and mentor, Colin currently advises several Vancouver-based startups and is on the board of Elevated Signals, Miru Technology and Inverted.ai. He is also a founding partner of Creative Destruction Lab (CDL)-Vancouver and was a member of the Global Semiconductor Alliance Board for several years.

Tina Tosukhowong, Ph.D

Tina brings over 20 years of experience developing and scaling new technologies in biotech and advanced materials start-ups and multinational companies. She is currently an Investment Director at TDK Ventures where she leads investments in climatetech and advanced material areas. She focuses on investments in early-stage deep tech start-up companies that leverage fundamental material science to solve big global problems in energy transition and decarbonization.

Tina was a veteran in the materials industry, working across scale up and technology transfer, application development, and business development. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and a Certificate in Management of Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology. She is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Private Equity and Venture Capital program.

Sarah Applebaum

Sarah brings more than a decade of venture capital and company building experience, with an expertise in building entrepreneurial teams, scaling early stage ventures and venture financing. She rejoined Pangaea Ventures in 2020, where she led investments into portfolio of technology and innovation companies including PolySpectra, Correlia Biosystems and pH7 Technologies.

Sarah is an active mentor to early-stage entrepreneurs and is a startup community activator and advocate. She is a member of the Young Private Capitalist Committee of the CVCA, is on the start-up showcase review board for SXSW Eco, and a mentor to the Singularity University Labs Accelerator. Sarah is also the co-founder of TNT Events, a Vancouver based organization that strives to create a more interconnected and multi-disciplinary innovation ecosystem.

Shahram Tafazoli, Ph.D

Shahram Tafazoli is an avid inventor, entrepreneur, and angel investor in the technology and sustainability space. He started his career as the Founder of a one-man technology consulting company based in the University of British Columbia (UBC). This consulting company has since evolved to Motion Metrics International Corp., which was acquired by The Weir Group for $250M CDN in December 2021 and now has 173 employees worldwide. As Chief of AI for WEIR Motion Metrics, Shahram is working to establish a global center of excellence for AI and Machine Vision for mining applications in Canada.

Shahram is an adjunct professor with UBC and has offered courses in robotics, control systems, and digital signal processing. He is also an associate member of the Creative Destruction Lab at both University of Toronto and UBC, the Founder and CEO of Fold34 Capital Inc., and has co-authored several patents with other Motion Metrics engineers.

Daniel B. Leznoff, Ph.D

Daniel is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and a well-known academic author and speaker in the industry, having received the Canadian Strem Chemicals Award for Inorganic Chemistry in 2010. He has published 150+ research articles, delivered over 140 invited presentations worldwide, holds several patents, co-organized over 10 National and International Chemistry conferences, and has served on numerous Editorial Boards, including the Canadian Journal of Chemistry, Inorganics and Gold Bulletin, and served on the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Chemistry Grant Selection Committee.

Daniel’s expertise lies in metal coordination chemistry throughout the periodic table, focusing primarily on platinum and gold-containing systems for materials applications, metallophthalocyanines, paramagnetic organometallic and actinide chemistry. He has won SFU Excellence in Teaching Awards in both the Faculty of Science and University-wide and sits on both the SFU University Senate and the SFU Board of Governors.

Grant Caffery, Ph.D

With over 30 years experience in the natural resources sector, Grant is a seasoned executive who has worked across operations, project development, business development and technology development.

Grant has spent his career pursuing a passion for technology and innovation, developing technology solutions across the entire mining value chain, from exploration to downstream processing. He has held various senior roles at BHP, where he has built and executed a holistic mining innovation portfolio, established its Innovation and Ventures team, developed solutions in exploration and resource characterization, and drove forward strategies and the implementation of automated mine planning, autonomous equipment as well as minerals extraction and processing.

Kevin O’Kane

Kevin is a registered professional engineer with more than 40 years of global experience in the natural resources and mining industry. He brings a wealth of technical, operational and leadership knowledge and expertise, holding the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and the ESG Competent Boards Certificate and Global Competent Boards Designation (GCB.D).

With extensive experience working with different cultures, languages and countries, Kevin has held executive positions with BHP in South America, including Project Director, Vice President of Health, Safety and Environment, and Asset President, overseeing management, operations, technical services, business development and project management. He currently sits on the Boards of IAMGOLD Corporation, NorthIsle Copper and Gold Inc., Autlan, and Almaden Minerals Ltd.

Neda Farmer

Neda is a skilled mining professional with over 20 years of industry experience, contributing directly to large-scale surface mine projects across North America. Neda as a strategic, innovative and results-driven surface mine engineer, registered as a professional engineer in both British Columbia and Alberta.

Focused on safety and team development, Neda brings with her a successful track record in honing technical multi-speciality teams to deliver on high-impact projects, such as the Trend Mine in Tumbler Ridge (BC) and Gregg River Mine (Alberta). Her technical expertise and experience spans mine design, mine sequence/scheduling, mine optimization, financial modelling, risk assessment, environmental management and strategic planning.

Peter M. D. Bradshaw, Ph.D

Peter is a member of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, and brings with him over 45 years of international mineral exploration experience in 30 countries with Barringer Research, Placer Dome and Orvana Minerals. He is Co-founder and Chairman of the Board at FPX Nickel, and currently serves as a board member for five green start-ups, all broadly related to mining.

Throughout his career, Peter has been a strong advocate for cross-disciplinary efforts to improve mineral extraction processes from exploration to post-mine closure, and working effectively with local and Indigenous people. He is the Founder of the Bradshaw Research Institute for Minerals and Mining (BRIMM) as well as Co-founder of the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDR) at University of British Columbia, recognized internationally as a centre of excellence in mineral deposits research and training. Since its conception 30 years ago, MRDU has raised over $45m for joint industry-university research.
